Along with time, many patients can experience a loss of income due to multiple factors:

  • The cost of medical treatments. 

  • Their need to cut back on work hours due to the frequency or duration of treatments. 

  • Decreased emotional, mental, and physical stamina.

Health social workers can intervene to:

  • Complete prescription assistance applications.

  • Help patients with paperwork for disability.

  • Help patients apply for community grants. 

  • Refer patient to community agencies to help with home care needs, financial bills, and transportation.
